Welcome the Leary Firefighters Foundation; new SL version coming soon
A few quick notes as the weekend looms quicker by the minute... -I wanted to formally welcome actor Denis Leary's awesome group - the Leary Firefighters Foundation - to the good flagship SendLabs. The LFF has found a special place in our hearts for the work they do in assisting firefighte...

New Marketing Profs article: Man Bites Giraffe
I got pretty bored with reading various marketing articles on subject lines that said the same old stuff again and again and again. (Not yours, boss...I liked this one.)  So, I did my own little study based on my inbox and thoughts I had on 20 different subject lines and my immediate reaction...

Subject lines and the cover of a magazine
So I had one of those nights the other night. You know, you're staring at the ceiling, wide awake. Brain moving like a freight train. You look at the clock 10 or 15 times only to realize an entire four minutes have passed. Argh. The best thing to do in those situations is to get up, read,...

What the heck is an API?
If you're a gearhead (code monkey, etc.) then you've probably got some API grease on your hands at this point in your career. However, if you're a marketer, most likely you've heard of the term, but haven't quite understood what it is or its benefit to you. Remember the d...

Marketing Thoughts Monday: Of phone numbers and sudoku
A few random thoughts after a sunny weekend in Portland, Maine, partially spent looking at a strange bulge in my tire that wasn't there when I left Manchester. -Why do business owners bother using telephone numbers as part of their non-traditional advertising? As we drove around this week...

Strange charity, stranger picture
There's nothing quite like a strangely-named charity, is there? In my inbox today was an email from Major League Soccer with the subject line: "A Letter From MLS Commissioner Don Garber - World Malaria Day", which I thought was strange for two reasons: 1) World Malaria Day? Woul...

Multiple lists or one?
Often we see customers uploading new lists into their accounts over and over again, often with the same subscribers. I think they might be thinking that each campaign requires a new list. Or perhaps they are only importing a smaller piece (a segment) of their house list to mail to. I want to make ...

Can you move to a new email address?
Perhaps I was a bit more tired today than normal, but this email caught me funny. I think what struck me was the approach of the email and how strange it was. Instead of associating a move with a site URL, the Monsters are 'moving' their email address. Why would they be changing? ...

Yahoo! delivery issues... still.
It appears that deliverability is back in the forefront again and Yahoo! is causing ESP's like us (and you our customers) a bit of heartburn. What's more, Yahoo! themselves are being open that there is indeed an issue, but now they are claiming a backup at the postmaster getting timely respo...
