Anheuser-Busch, in an effort to improve their image is planning on brewing two specialty beers in Columbus, Ohio and Merrimack, New Hampshire. On April 5, 2006, Anheuser-Busch announced that it would allow consumers the chance to vote on the Web site, www.originalbeers.com, in order to decide which specialty beers will be produced in the two areas.
The graphics work and creative for this email was quite impressive. The only concern is the use of too many graphics and little HTML text. I no-doubt believe a great "creative" agency put this together - so from a pure design standpoint, great stuff. However, from a best practice, not such a good idea. Spam filters and image blocking are the norm now and would guess AB could have gotten a better response.
Never under estimate the quality of design in your email creative though. Just remember to balance it with technical best practices to help your delivery rates, and ultimately your results. It can't help your business if it's never seen.
