The holidays are upon us and I really, really, really don't feel like critiquing any emails. Our physical office is closing in a few hours, we're having a party and things are merry. But I need to post something before the holidays, so here's one naughty and two nice holiday emails/projects that will get you thinking.
First, a quick bit of naughty. It's nitpicking, but still....
This email is from your 2007 World Champion Boston Red Sox (I had to get that in there...two in four seasons will do that to a bloke). It's a basic holiday email we see a lot of these days, mainly meant as an acknowledgment of an email list and something that's seen and deleted within a few seconds. Just before I hit the delete button on this one, something caught my eye: what's written on the stockings? Upon a closer look, it's the years of their various World Series wins.
One thing is that the years are very tough to read, but the other thing that baffled me a bit was the lack of any player involvement within this email. Usually the idea of stockings by the fire is that they have names on them, so seeing an Ortiz, Manny, Dice-K, etc. would have been a nice touch. Picky? Yeah. I'm a Sox fan, so I notice things like this a lot more than others but if you have the chance to hit the home run, do it.
Some stuff we really liked:
Our pals at New Hampshire's Hatchling Studios put together this awesome Flash game: Kung Fu Christmas. You need something to do next week, right? (http://www.hatchling.com/kungfuchristmas/)
Also to scratch your holiday itch, here's a game from CDG Interactive featuring the characters from the Nutcracker in a way you wouldn't expect: in Pac-Man form.
From the entire SendLabs team of Brett, Mike, Steve, Kelley, Susan, Erik, Tony, Thomas, John and myself, have a great holiday season!
